The organisation of the academic year 2024/2025 in Latvia is as follows:
| Beginning of the academic year | September; some institutions set start of the academic year by the end of August |
| Period(s) when there are teaching activities | Two semesters - usually organised from September to December and from February to May |
| Period(s) of examination | Institutions fix periods of examinations. Usually examinations proceed after the teaching activity period and take place in January/February and June/July |
| End of the academic year | The academic year generally ends after the last examination of spring or summer semester |
| Breaks between the teaching activities excluding the examination period, if longer than a week | usually one week around Christmas/New Year and another one at Easter |
